Started a 2nd blanket, though I don’t have anyone who is pregnant. Just an exercise in crochet

First ever crocheted scalloped edge. Took me ALL morning to do the scallop. I was worried I would not have enough yarn to finish as the lavender was a leftover.

My first ever crochet project. The worlds ugliest blanket. I used the remaining acrylic yarn that I used to use to teach students to knit. I now have single & double crochet down. It’s shaped like Marilyn Monroe as I lost and gained stitches.

I haven’t crocheted in such a long time. Especially with a big hook. This shawl called for a N and M but that was too big for me. I didn’t do “in the back loop” on the body part. My crocheting pulled it out too much. I also took out some of the fringe from what is in the pictures. I think I got a little carried away!

This book is awesome. I have 2 legs done so far and it’s fun to crochet! I already starting cheating though. I’m not counting the 15 rows on the leg, I’m just measuring. Each leg is 3.5” long. My legs aren’t as fat as the pattern calls for but I don’t think going up a needle would look right.

11/21/21 - Ends woven in. The neckline was way too big, didn't stay on my shoulders. I single crocheted and decreased around the neckline to cinch it up. It stays on my shoulders, but I think I could do one more row to tighten it up a bit.

4/30/21 - body and ribbing completed in size 6 needles.
      Picking up the sleeves

1/22/20 - Cast on 204 stitches on size 4 needles.
I used size 6 for yoke, but didn't care for the fabric. So I bumped the yoke up to 8's. I think I will drop to 7 when I get to on the body. We shall see.

    • I ordered this yarn from Freedomknits member Elizabeth Clements She shipped it out the very next day so I should have it soon. It has wool and silk. I've been wanting to knit a round tablecloth. This could be perfect? With the silk in it, it would be drapey and the color is neutral. (well, for me it is!) I didn't buy it with this in mind, but what do you think? I ordered 3 skeins at I think 400' each so it's probably not enough but gee...she's a dyer! I was going to use something like that crochet cotton but it's not near as fun as this. But then I think this color would make a fabulous shawl and I actually have a pullover in mind too.
So the question for today should be: What yarn would anyone use for a big tablecloth? I for sure can find lots of projects for these 3 skeins! See. That's how I get so many projects going at once. I get georgeous yarn like this and have to wind it up right away and cast something on!!

I'll post different patterns and techniques here, when I have more time.

The Mandala hot pad, orange, yellow and cream, I found the diagram on pinterest… the web address is http://qscrochet.blogspot.com/2015/09/mandale-na-zimno.html

The lavender/purple square hot pad was just chain and single crochet all the way around the chain, single crochet till folds in and makes a square, then bind off with single crochet.
      Purple/yellow/white...SC, CH1 repeat
Purple/white/green/yellow... Grille Stitch: SC, DC. SC in the DC and DC in the SC.

Black & Red was a bag I started quite a while ago... so I'm improvising as I go along. I think I'll try to incorporate the rest of the colors thru the rest of the bag.

A fun little stash busting project. I don’t crochet very much, but I did crochet the pieces together and am happy with how it looks. Some people said that knitting the wedges in the round resulted in a nipple-like appearance. I did not find this to be the case and that may be because I knit my tails in for a couple rounds so the tips of the wedges were double thick.

I wonder if a slipstitch selvedge edge on the tops would have made them a little sturdier and easier to crochet. Overall, I’m happy with the end result

I crochet around hair elastic from inside (wrongside) of hat because it makes a single ridge. Hmm. As I type this I probable could have done a slip stitch instead of sc. I was on a car trip so was doing more looking around than thinking,

I also didn’t do the provisional co since I was in the car and didn’t have another needle. It looks fine but if I were to do another one, I would do the provisional. It’s more finished and for me, easier to do.

      After repeating sequence 3x,
      k2tog one round
      purl 2 ends
      purl 2tog 1 rnd
      purl 1 end

This fits my head really well but snuggly and I suppose I have an average size head. If you have a large head you are going to want to cast on a few more stitches.

Made this for Belle so she could pull her pony tail through. She loved it and said it was a hit with the other teachers also!

The orange bag my friend Gail and I made exactly alike as we did most things it seemed! Cascade 220 one orange run with one strand of red.. Also made this one a bit smaller than the pattern called for. It's a pretty big pattern. I think the first one I made is the only one I made the actual size. It was more diaper bag size. If it gets too big it gets too heavy to carry. You know how it is. If the bag is big, I think I have to fill it up.
